Free funerals in the news

We were very excited to get some coverage in the press this week.

It was nice to close the laptop, get a cuppa and sit and flick through the local evening newspaper to see our charity’s offer to the world. Free funerals.

Well, OK, not entirely free - but we’re offering to cover the costs of the celebrant who can craft and deliver the funeral.

There’s been a rise in the number of people opting for direct cremation - unattended cremations - in the last few years. This is great if that’s what families genuinely want. And it’s great if the person who has died wanted to take control and they made that choice in advance.

However… if families would like a funeral - as in a ceremony - we want to make sure that this isn’t out of their reach just because of affordability.

We are working with local funeral directors and hospices to offer help.

Anyone can apply to us. It’s a simple and quick process.

See our link to apply.
